Maggie's Story

Maggie TroyerTraumatic events early in Maggie’s life forever changed the path she would walk. The unexpected death of her father caused her world to fall apart. In the pain and confusion caused by her father’s death, she determined to prove that she didn’t need him. This decision would cause her to become involved in a lifestyle of drugs, alcohol, abuse and danger. She became a wife at the age of 15, dropped out of school to be a full-time mother by 16. At the age of 19 she was in prison charged with first degree murder of an abusive boyfriend. A few short years later she was married to a member of an outlaw motorcycle club.

Today, Maggie is the wife of an ordained minister, serving alongside her husband Rich touring the country as they speak to audiences about their choices and the changes that have come through their faith, courage and inner strength. Maggie shares her experience of going from a ninth grade drop out to graduating from college with a 4.0 GPA, 11 straight semesters on the Dean’s List, named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, and graduating with a Magna Cum Laude diploma. In 1999 Maggie and Rich began their journey of facing the rugged waters of cancer as Maggie was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer which had spread to her brain.

Maggie and Rich are available as Motivational speakers to share their experiences and to encourage their audiences to make positive life choices.
